ADU surpasses 5,000 Scopus-indexed papers

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has published more than 5,000 Scopus-indexed research papers in peer-reviewed journals, international conference proceedings and book chapters, marking a significant institutional milestone.

The output, according to Emirates News Agency,  coordinated through ADU’s Office of Research and Sponsored Programmes (ORSP), includes 1,541 publications aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These contributions span public health, clean energy, sustainable cities and climate action, and have generated nearly 64,000 citations, underscoring the wider academic and societal impact of the university’s research.

The achievement aligns with ADU’s Vision 2027 strategy, which positions research and innovation as a central institutional pillar. The milestone reflects the university’s expanding global academic footprint, emphasis on interdisciplinary scholarship, and engagement with sustainable development priorities at national and international levels.

Professor Ghassan Aouad, Chancellor of ADU, said the milestone was attained within a relatively short institutional history, demonstrating the university’s accelerated development of a research ecosystem grounded in quality, global collaboration and applied impact. He added that the output supports the UAE’s broader objective of advancing a sustainable, knowledge-based economy.

Professor Montasir Qasymeh, Associate Provost for Research, Innovation and Academic Development, said the university’s publication record in leading journals, policy engagement, SDG alignment and innovation outcomes illustrates its contribution to scientific advancement, evidence-informed policymaking and practical solutions to complex challenges.

ADU said it will continue to expand interdisciplinary research, strengthen international partnerships and integrate innovation and commercialisation pathways, reinforcing its standing among emerging research-intensive universities in the UAE and internationally.

The university’s research profile is further reflected in the inclusion of several faculty members in Stanford University’s Top Two Percent Most Cited Scientists list, signalling sustained global recognition of its academic contributions.
