SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates — Sharjah Media Academy has opened the 10th edition of its summer training program, Future Media Professional, with 150 students ages 10 to 18 taking part across three locations in the emirate.
The program, which runs through July 30, is organized by the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority and is designed to give young participants hands-on experience in media production and presentation.
According to the academy, 100 students are training at the authority’s headquarters in Sharjah, while 50 are split between Al Sharqiya channel in Kalba and Al Wusta channel in Al Dhaid.
The workshops cover television presenting, radio work, photography and editing using smart devices, as well as artificial intelligence applications in media production. Organizers said the addition of AI training reflects the growing role of new technology in content creation.
The program combines classroom instruction with practical exercises in studio and field settings. Academy officials said the format is intended to help students understand core media concepts while also giving them the confidence to create content on modern platforms.
Shaimaa Abdullah Abdulrahim, director of Sharjah Media Academy, said the 10th edition reflects the program’s steady growth since it began in 2017. She said it has become an important platform for developing young media talent.
She said the academy wants to prepare students for a changing media environment by introducing them to the basics of television and radio work and helping them gain skills in artificial intelligence tools that are increasingly part of the industry’s future.
Officials said the program is one of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority’s key initiatives and is aimed at building a new generation of media professionals with practical skills and creative confidence.
Further training sessions will continue through the end of July as participants rotate through the program’s workshops and production exercises.
