DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — The UAE’s national airlines are accelerating their international expansion, launching new routes across Europe, Asia and Africa as the country strengthens its position as one of the world’s leading aviation hubs.
Between services already introduced in 2026 and routes scheduled to begin over the coming months, Emirates, Etihad Airways, flydubai and Air Arabia are set to add 24 international destinations by the first quarter of 2027, improving connectivity for business and leisure travellers.
The expansion comes as demand for international travel continues to recover and the UAE invests further in its role as a gateway linking East and West through Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
Emirates adds Finland connection
Emirates will introduce a daily non-stop service between Dubai and Helsinki beginning Oct. 1, creating the first year-round direct air connection between the UAE and Finland.
The new route is expected to strengthen tourism and business links between the two countries while expanding the airline’s Northern European network.

Etihad plans major expansion
Etihad Airways has already added five destinations to its network this year:
- Dhaka, Bangladesh
- Krakow, Poland
- Palma de Mallorca, Spain
- Damascus, Syria
- Zanzibar, Tanzania
The Abu Dhabi-based carrier plans to launch 12 additional destinations by early 2027.
Upcoming services include Luxembourg and Calgary later this year, followed by new routes to several cities in mainland China and African destinations including Accra, Lagos, Kinshasa, Harare and Asmara.

flydubai grows regional and Asian network
Dubai-based flydubai has continued expanding its network with new flights to:
- Aleppo, Syria
- Don Mueang Airport, Bangkok
- Benghazi, Libya
The airline is also scheduled to begin flights to Pokhara, Nepal, on Sept. 23, providing another direct connection between the UAE and South Asia.

Air Arabia strengthens Europe links
Air Arabia has expanded its European operations by launching flights to Rome Fiumicino and London Gatwick, while also resuming services to Aleppo.
The additions further strengthen the Sharjah-based airline’s network serving both leisure and business travellers.

The continued network expansion reflects sustained passenger demand and growing international connectivity through the UAE’s airports.
