Dubai Police’s ‘Relieving the Injured’ Initiative Brings Comfort to Crash Victims

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Recovering from a serious road accident can be physically and emotionally challenging. In an effort to support patients during that journey, Dubai Police visited people receiving treatment at Rashid Hospital as part of its “Relieving the Injured” community initiative.

The visit brought together officers, patients and their families in a setting focused on encouragement and recovery, while also reinforcing the importance of responsible driving to help prevent future accidents.

A delegation from Dubai Police’s Traffic Awareness Department, led by Lt. Col. Ali Yousif Yaqoub, Head of the Community and Traffic Activities Section, met with patients recovering from traffic collisions. Officers checked on their wellbeing, offered gifts and spent time speaking with families about safe road habits and compliance with traffic regulations.

The initiative reflects Dubai Police’s wider approach to road safety, combining enforcement with community engagement and public education.

Brig. Jumaa Salem Bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, said supporting accident victims extends beyond emergency response. He noted that visiting injured road users can help lift their spirits during recovery while encouraging greater awareness of the consequences of unsafe driving.

He added that community programmes remain an important part of the force’s efforts to reduce traffic accidents by promoting responsible behaviour among all road users.

For many patients, the visit was about more than road safety messages. Those receiving treatment at Rashid Hospital expressed appreciation for the personal encouragement, saying the interaction with officers helped ease some of the emotional strain that often follows a serious collision.

Dubai Police has increasingly expanded its community-focused initiatives in recent years, alongside campaigns aimed at reducing speeding, distracted driving, reckless behaviour and other leading causes of traffic accidents.

Authorities continue to encourage motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to follow traffic laws, remain alert on the roads and make safety a shared responsibility across the community.
