DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — The Delhi High Court has quashed the technical evaluation that awarded Alhind Tours and Travels LLC the contract to run Indian passport, visa and attestation services in the UAE, according to a copy of the judgment seen by Gulf News.
The ruling could reopen the question of who will handle the services going forward. In its judgment, the court said incumbent providers may be allowed to continue offering consular services.
Alhind was originally due to begin operating Indian Consular Application Centres in the UAE on July 1. That rollout was delayed after the court case, forcing the Indian Embassy and Consulate to step in and handle the services directly.
The case has created uncertainty for Indian residents in the UAE who depend on passport renewal, visa and attestation services. Further steps are expected once the court’s ruling is implemented.
