DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Expatriates living in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries can apply for a UAE electronic entry permit before travelling, provided they meet the eligibility requirements set by the country’s immigration authorities.
The eVisa is available to eligible residents of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar, offering a streamlined online application process ahead of arrival in the UAE.
Before submitting an application, travellers are advised to confirm whether they already qualify for a visa on arrival based on their nationality through the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA): https://www.mofa.gov.ae.
Who is eligible?
The UAE eVisa is available to foreign nationals who hold valid residency in a GCC member state.
Applicants generally must:
- Hold a GCC residence permit valid for at least one year.
- Have a passport valid for a minimum of six months.
- Work in an eligible profession approved by UAE authorities.
- Meet all applicable UAE entry requirements and have no restrictions preventing entry.
Final approval is issued by the relevant UAE immigration authorities.

- A passport or other valid travel document.

Residents travelling to Dubai can apply online through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA Dubai):
The application process includes:
- Creating a user account.
- Selecting the GCC resident entry permit service.
- Completing the online application.
- Uploading the required documents.
- Paying the applicable fees.
- Waiting for approval, which is sent electronically to the registered email address.
Travellers heading directly to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah or Umm Al Quwain should submit their application through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP):

Fees
The standard GCC resident entry permit includes:
- AED 250 application fee.
- Five per cent VAT.
- Additional service charges may apply depending on the application channel.
Validity
The electronic entry permit:
- Remains valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
- Allows visitors to stay in the UAE for up to 30 days from entry.
- May be extended once for an additional 30 days, subject to approval.
Can a travel agency apply on your behalf?
Yes. Eligible GCC residents may also submit their application through an authorised travel agency. Depending on the type of visa requested, agencies can assist with documentation, sponsorship requirements and the application process.
