Mushrif National Park gets new 102-metre outdoor bridge

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Dubai has opened a new 102-metre bridge at Mushrif National Park, creating a dedicated connection for mountain bikers and hikers across the popular outdoor destination.

The bridge was opened by Dubai Municipality as part of ongoing improvements to the park’s recreational infrastructure, according to the Dubai Media Office.

The structure has two separate lanes, with one designated for mountain bikers and the other for pedestrians and hikers.

The new crossing allows trail users to continue between sections of the park without needing to cross a road used by vehicles, improving separation between recreational and road traffic.

Mushrif National Park is one of Dubai’s major green spaces and is popular with families, cyclists, hikers and people seeking outdoor activities away from the city’s built-up areas.

The bridge is expected to strengthen connections between existing trails and make the park’s mountain biking and hiking routes easier to navigate.

Part of wider park development

The project forms part of Dubai Municipality’s broader work to develop Mushrif National Park as an outdoor recreation and nature destination.

The park combines forested areas with walking and cycling trails and other leisure facilities, making it a key destination for residents and visitors looking for nature-based activities in Dubai.

The new infrastructure comes as cycling, hiking and other outdoor pursuits continue to feature prominently in Dubai’s efforts to expand active-lifestyle and recreational options.

By providing separate routes for cyclists and pedestrians, the bridge also gives different groups of park users a more defined path through the natural environment.

Focus on safer trail connections

A key feature of the project is the uninterrupted connection it provides between parts of the mountain biking trail.

Previously, cyclists using the route would need to stop and cross a vehicle-access road. The new bridge removes that interruption and provides a dedicated crossing.

For hikers, a separate lane offers an alternative route across the same section of the park without sharing the cycling path.

Dubai Municipality has described the development as part of a broader approach to improving Mushrif National Park rather than treating the bridge as a standalone facility.

The emirate has increasingly invested in parks, cycling routes and other public spaces designed to support outdoor recreation and active lifestyles.

The new bridge is now part of Mushrif National Park’s wider network of trails and facilities, giving cyclists and hikers another purpose-built route to explore the park.
