MUSCAT, Oman: Oman is planning four new industrial cities across the country as part of its 2026-2030 development program, in a move aimed at attracting investment, supporting employment and broadening economic activity beyond established industrial centers.
The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates, known as Madayn, plans to develop the new industrial destinations in Al Suwaiq in North Al Batinah, Al Mudhaibi in North Al Sharqiyah, Thumrait in Dhofar and Madha in Musandam.
The projects are aligned with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, the country’s long-term economic and development strategy, which calls for greater diversification, stronger private-sector participation and more balanced growth across governorates.
New industrial hubs to include infrastructure and logistics
Madayn’s plans call for the new industrial cities to be supported by modern infrastructure and integrated logistics services.
The aim is to create locations that can accommodate industrial businesses while improving access to markets, transportation networks and other commercial services.
Khalid bin Sulaiman Al Salehi, Madayn’s general manager of marketing and commercial affairs and its official spokesperson, said the developments are intended to strengthen Oman’s investment environment and support longer-term economic growth.
The locations are being assessed based on factors including their potential to promote geographic balance and build on the individual economic strengths of each governorate.
Investment and jobs among key objectives
The expansion is expected to provide additional opportunities for private companies and encourage industrial activity in areas outside Oman’s existing economic centers.
Madayn is also targeting an employment market capable of supporting both Omani workers and specialized international talent as new industrial activity develops.
For businesses considering the wider Gulf market, the projects could add new industrial and logistics locations to Oman’s growing network of economic infrastructure.
