SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates — Indian residents in the UAE will have access to temporary document attestation services in Sharjah this weekend, as authorities work to address ongoing disruptions in consular operations.
The Indian Association Sharjah (IAS), in coordination with the Consulate General of India (CGI) in Dubai, will host a two-day outreach program on July 4 and July 5. The initiative aims to help members of the Indian community complete essential attestation procedures amid delays affecting regular service channels.
The service will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the IAS premises, with consular officials present to process applications on-site.
The move comes against the backdrop of a legal dispute in India involving the outsourcing of consular services. A contract awarded to Alhind Tours & Travels in late 2025 has been challenged in court, leaving the rollout of services on hold. The matter is currently under review, with the next hearing scheduled for mid-July.
In response to the disruption, Indian missions in the UAE have introduced temporary measures, including walk-in services, to ensure continuity for residents requiring urgent documentation.
Applicants attending the Sharjah outreach have been advised to bring original documents for attestation, along with copies and valid identification such as a passport and Emirates ID. Required fees and supporting paperwork must also be provided in line with consular guidelines.
Organizers have urged residents to verify document requirements in advance to avoid delays during the limited two-day window.
The outreach is expected to ease pressure on existing services and provide short-term relief for Indian expats awaiting attestation for employment, education or legal purposes. Further updates on regular service resumption are likely following the court’s next hearing.
