Planning Europe? Montenegro Eases Entry for UAE Residents

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Eligible foreign residents living in the UAE can now travel to Montenegro without obtaining a visa under a temporary summer travel measure introduced by the Montenegrin government.

The visa waiver allows qualifying UAE residents to stay in Montenegro for up to 10 days between May 1 and Oct. 1, 2026, making it easier for travelers to visit the Balkan nation during the peak holiday season.

According to Montenegro’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the exemption applies to foreign passport holders who have maintained valid UAE residency for at least three consecutive years.

To qualify, travelers must also:

  • Hold a passport valid for the duration of their visit.
  • Travel on a direct flight to Montenegro.
  • Present confirmation of a pre-booked tour package upon arrival.

The temporary measure is intended to facilitate tourism during the summer season and adds Montenegro to a growing list of destinations offering simplified entry procedures for UAE residents.

While entry requirements vary depending on nationality, several countries have introduced visa-free access, visas on arrival or electronic visa options for eligible UAE residents. Popular destinations include Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Uzbekistan, each with its own immigration rules and eligibility criteria.

For UAE-based travelers, the latest announcement provides another European destination that can be visited with fewer administrative requirements, particularly during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

Before making travel plans, residents are advised to verify that they meet all eligibility requirements and review the latest immigration guidance issued by Montenegro’s authorities, as entry conditions can change.
