New ICAC rules could reject passport applications

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Indian nationals in the UAE have been warned that even a small error in their passport or consular booking details could slow down their application or lead to rejection.

The new Indian Consular Application Centres, which began operating this week, said applicants must enter their own email address and phone number when making an appointment. Those details will be checked again when the application is submitted.

According to the ICAC portal, any mismatch between the booking information and the applicant’s details may result in delays or refusal of the service request.

The advisory comes as Indian passport, visa, attestation and other consular services in the UAE move to a new system run by Alhind Tours & Travels. Appointments must now be made through the consularsevainuae.com website, with new slots released twice a day at 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

The centres have also reminded applicants who book appointments on behalf of relatives to carry proof of the relationship when they visit.

That means people applying for a family member, including spouses, children or parents, should bring supporting documents that confirm the connection and ensure all information entered during booking is accurate.

The warning follows the rollout of 16 ICAC centres across the UAE, which are now handling Indian passport and consular services after the new outsourcing arrangement took effect on July 22.

The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi also said Ambassador Dr. Deepak Mittal visited the Sharjah ICAC on Wednesday to review operations and speak with staff and applicants.

For Indian expats in the UAE, the shift marks the start of a new service process that depends heavily on accurate online booking and complete documentation. More updates are expected as the new network settles in across the Emirates.
