SHARJAH: Sharjah will focus on high-growth markets with strong investment potential as it seeks to attract more quality foreign direct investment, according to Mohamed Juma Al Musharrkh, CEO of the Sharjah FDI Office (Invest in Sharjah).
The emirate will also explore opportunities in Asian and regional markets while strengthening its presence in India, the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe, Al Musharrkh said on the sidelines of AIM Congress 2026.
He said Sharjah is particularly interested in markets with expertise in technology, manufacturing, logistics and innovation.
The emirate’s leading sources of investment include India, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as regional markets. Al Musharrkh attributed Sharjah’s appeal to its diversified economy, strategic location, infrastructure and competitive business environment.
Technology and artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, clean energy and sustainability are among the sectors attracting significant foreign investment, he said. Logistics, infrastructure, food and manufacturing also offer strong growth opportunities.
Al Musharrkh said Sharjah’s approach to investment focuses on quality rather than capital alone. Quality investment is measured by its long-term economic impact, including job creation, capacity building, stronger supply chains and support for local businesses.
Sharjah attracted 142 investment projects worth AED7.74 billion in 2025, generating 5,673 jobs, he said. About 75% of those projects are now operational.
Infrastructure and supply chain development are also central to Sharjah’s investment strategy. Al Musharrkh highlighted plans to expand Khorfakkan Port’s capacity to 10 million containers, which he said would strengthen the emirate’s trade links with global markets.
