Sun Siyam Group names Deepak Booneady as new CEO

MALE, Maldives, Jan 26, 2026 (GDM) – Maldivian hospitality group Sun Siyam announced Monday the promotion of Deepak Booneady to Group Chief Executive Officer, effective from the start of the year.

Booneady, previously CEO of the group’s Sun Siyam Resorts division, will now oversee the diversified portfolio’s strategic growth and brand development, the company said in a statement.

“Deepak has been an important part of our journey,” said group founder and chairman Ahmed Siyam Mohamed. “He leads with strategic clarity, integrity, and genuine respect for our people and culture.”

The appointment comes as the privately-owned group, with resorts in the Maldives and Sri Lanka, seeks to “premiumise” its brands and explore new areas of sustainable growth.

Founded in 1990, Sun Siyam Group is a major tourism employer in the Maldives, with interests spanning travel, construction, and media.
