DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Du said voice call services have been restored after a morning disruption left customers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi unable to place calls.
The telecom operator said the outage followed a planned system update aimed at improving network performance. It added that call services were now working normally and that the Du app should be available again shortly.
Complaints began early Wednesday, with outage tracker Downdetector showing a spike in reports from around 7 a.m. UAE time. Most users said they were having trouble with voice calls, while others reported weaker mobile signals and issues with mobile internet.
During the disruption, some customers said the Du app was unavailable and displayed a message saying the company was working to fix the problem. Mobile internet and SMS services continued to function for many users, and internet calling apps remained an alternative for some customers.
Du said the main issue has now been resolved.
