RIYADH –  Indian engineering and construction group Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is showcasing its work in Saudi Arabia’s energy and infrastructure sectors at the 25th WPC Energy Congress in Riyadh, as the kingdom presses ahead with its energy transition and economic diversification plans.
L&T, an industry sponsor of the congress, has built oil and gas, renewable energy and power transmission projects across Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf, and runs manufacturing operations in the kingdom’s Jubail Industrial Area.
“Saudi Arabia is one of the most dynamic energy markets and a key geography for L&T,” said T. Madhava Das, whole-time director and senior executive vice president, energy-hydrocarbon, at L&T.
“We remain committed to supporting the kingdom’s energy and industrial development through world-class engineering and integrated energy solutions,” he said.
Since 2023, the company has operated a heavy-wall pressure vessel plant, a valve manufacturing facility and a piping fabrication shop in Jubail. The operations contribute to the In-Kingdom Total Value Add (IKTVA) programme, Saudi Aramco’s initiative to raise local content in the energy supply chain.
L&T’s hydrocarbon work in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) spans greenfield developments, brownfield upgrades, offshore platforms, subsea infrastructure, offshore production facilities, crude oil handling and export terminals, and production enhancement programmes. The company said it was working with local partners and suppliers to build in-kingdom capabilities.
In renewables, L&T is supplying renewable generation, energy storage and transmission infrastructure for the NEOM Green Hydrogen project in northwestern Saudi Arabia.
Across the GCC, its renewables portfolio includes more than 38 gigawatts peak (GWp) of solar projects, 22 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of battery storage and 3.5 gigawatts (GW) of wind projects. Its power transmission and distribution business built the 380-kilovolt Arar-Rafah overhead transmission line in Saudi Arabia.
The group is also active in the kingdom’s technology sector through NextEra, a joint venture between LTM, the L&T Group’s IT services company, and Aramco Digital. The venture offers artificial intelligence, automation, cloud, data and digital engineering services in support of the kingdom’s Vision 2030 diversification plan.
“As the energy landscape evolves, we remain focused on creating long-term value across both conventional and emerging energy sectors while strengthening local capabilities and partnerships,” Das said.
