DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Salik has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority to introduce parking and access control systems across three major free zones in Dubai.
The agreement will extend Salik’s barrierless technology to Dubai Airport Freezone, Dubai Silicon Oasis and Dubai CommerCity, covering more than 21,000 parking spaces.
The partnership is aimed at reducing congestion and improving the use of designated parking areas in the zones, where traffic bottlenecks and parking misuse have long been operational challenges.
For DIEZ, the move is part of a broader push to modernize infrastructure and support the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which seeks to strengthen the emirate’s position as a global business and investment hub.
Salik chief executive Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad said the agreement supports the company’s strategy to become a wider mobility solutions provider and marks the launch of a new smart mobility line of business.
Eng. Muammar Al Katheeri, chief officer of engineering and sustainability at DIEZ, said the collaboration fits with the authority’s digital transformation plans and its effort to deliver more efficient services for businesses operating in its economic zones.
The two sides will now study deeper technical integration between their systems. That work is expected to focus on smoother traffic flow and more unified access control across the three zones.
Salik, which operates as Dubai’s exclusive toll gate company, currently runs 10 toll gates across the emirate, including on Sheikh Zayed Road. It holds a 49-year concession from the Roads and Transport Authority that runs until 2071.
The company has recently expanded beyond toll collection. Earlier this month, Salik announced a cashless parking payment partnership at Dubai Harbour, and in May it said value-added tax would be applied to toll tariffs and tag activation fees starting June 1.
