ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — Abu Dhabi Police has stepped up anti-drug awareness efforts in Al Dhafra with a series of community outreach activities aimed at warning residents about the dangers of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
The campaign was organized by the Anti-Narcotics Directorate through its Al Dhafra department in cooperation with the Family Care Authority’s Halfway Houses program. It was part of events marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse 2026 and the national campaign held under the slogan “United to Eradicate the Scourge.”
Police said the initiative was designed to reach a broad cross-section of the public by taking awareness messages into shopping centers across the region. Activities were held at Ghayathi Mall on June 22-23, Al Dhannah Mall on June 23-24 and City Mall in Zayed City on June 24-25.
Officers used the campaign to explain the risks associated with drug use and to stress the importance of prevention, particularly among young people and adolescents. Visitors were given informational materials, and police representatives answered questions from the public during the outreach events.
Authorities said the effort is part of a wider strategy to strengthen prevention at the community level by involving families, institutions and social support programs.
Abu Dhabi Police said it will continue working with government and community partners to expand awareness initiatives and support national efforts to protect society from drugs.
The force said the long-term goal is to reinforce a safe environment, improve quality of life and reduce the risk of substance abuse through education and early intervention.
