DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has begun a traffic diversion on Emirates Road as part of expansion work designed to improve traffic flow and upgrade one of the emirate’s key highways.
The diversion took effect on July 4 and is expected to remain in place for about two months while construction continues. The work includes expanding the tunnel between Al Amardi Street and Tripoli Street and upgrading the loop ramps at the Emirates Road and Maleha Street intersection.
As part of the changes, the Al Aayal Tunnel has been temporarily closed. Motorists are being directed to use alternative routes during the construction period.
RTA has urged drivers to plan trips ahead of time and follow traffic signs and guidance in the area. The authority said the changes are meant to support smoother traffic movement once the upgrades are completed.
Emirates Road is one of Dubai’s major routes, linking several parts of the emirate with neighboring areas. The ongoing work is part of wider transport upgrades across the UAE aimed at easing congestion and improving road safety.
Further updates are expected as the expansion works progress over the coming weeks.
