SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates: Motorists in Sharjah should prepare for a temporary road closure from Sunday, Aug. 16, as authorities carry out improvement works at a key city intersection.
The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority said the closure will affect the intersection of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street and Maliha Street.
Traffic will be redirected through designated alternative routes during the works, with motorists asked to follow signs and instructions in the area.
Drivers urged to plan ahead
The temporary change is part of an intersection improvement project intended to improve traffic movement and increase the efficiency of the surrounding road network.
Drivers heading through the area should allow additional time for their journeys, particularly during busy periods.
Motorists are advised to:
- Follow traffic signs and designated diversion routes.
- Observe all road safety instructions.
- Allow extra time for travel.
- Avoid the affected intersection when possible.
The authority has published a traffic diversion arrangement showing the alternative routes available to motorists.
