Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Drivers in Dubai can have their vehicles inspected at no cost through Aug. 23 under a summer road safety campaign designed to identify potential problems before they lead to breakdowns or accidents.
The initiative is being carried out by Dubai Police in partnership with ENOC AutoPro as part of the Summer Without Accidents 2026 campaign. The drive is being conducted under the patronage of the Ministry of Interior and the Federal Traffic Council.
Free inspections are available from Aug. 10-23 at participating AutoPro maintenance centres located at ENOC service stations.
What the free inspection covers
The checks are designed to give motorists an overview of the condition of key vehicle components before they take to Dubai’s roads.
The inspection covers 10 essential safety areas, including tyres and engine oil. Drivers can use the assessment to identify issues that may require attention before they develop into more serious problems.
The campaign forms part of the On The Go initiative, which promotes preventive vehicle maintenance alongside wider road safety awareness.
Why summer checks matter
The UAE’s high summer temperatures can place additional demands on vehicles, particularly during long journeys and periods of heavy traffic.
Tyres are among the components motorists should monitor closely. Heat from the road, combined with incorrect pressure, worn tread, cracks or other damage, can increase the risk of tyre failure.
Batteries can also deteriorate more quickly in hot conditions. A battery that is already weak may fail without much warning, potentially leaving a driver stranded.
The vehicle’s cooling system is another important area. Low coolant levels, damaged hoses, radiator problems or cooling-fan faults can contribute to overheating when the engine is working in extreme temperatures.
Air conditioning is also a safety issue
A functioning air-conditioning system is particularly important during the UAE summer.
A vehicle that becomes stranded in extreme heat without adequate cooling can quickly become uncomfortable and potentially unsafe, particularly for children, older passengers and pets.
Drivers should also pay attention to brake performance, engine fluids, belts and hoses. Existing wear or damage can become more apparent when a vehicle is exposed to prolonged high temperatures.
Small faults can become bigger problems
Summer heat does not necessarily cause every vehicle problem, but it can expose weaknesses that may have gone unnoticed in cooler conditions.
A worn tyre, deteriorating battery or cooling-system fault can become a more serious problem when a vehicle is subjected to high temperatures, long drives or stop-and-go traffic.
Preventive maintenance can therefore help motorists reduce the likelihood of roadside breakdowns and improve overall vehicle safety.
Dubai Police and ENOC AutoPro are encouraging drivers to take basic precautions and ensure their vehicles are road-ready during the summer period.
