SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates — Sharjah Museums Authority has launched its Summer Season 2026, offering a wide range of activities for children, teenagers and families across the emirate’s museums.
The seasonal program includes educational workshops, training sessions, interactive experiences and temporary exhibitions designed to keep museums active during the school break. Officials said the initiative is meant to reinforce museums as spaces for learning, creativity and family recreation.
The season begins with the 18th Sharjah Museums Ambassadors Program, scheduled for July 13 to 16, with a closing ceremony on July 20. The program is aimed at young people ages 13 to 17 and focuses on museum guiding, communication, presentation and public speaking through hands-on workshops at three museums.
Another major offering is the Happy Holiday Summer Camp, which runs from July 13 to Aug. 20 for children ages 7 to 12. The camp combines heritage, arts and science activities at several museum venues.
Sharjah Museums Authority will also host a series of specialist workshops throughout July. These include From the Heart of the Palm at Hisn Khorfakkan on July 4, The Gilded Horse Bridle at Sharjah Archaeology Museum on July 5 and Moon Day at Sharjah Science Museum on July 19.
In August, Sharjah Aquarium will hold its Junior Aquarist Program from Aug. 3 to 6 for children ages 9 to 13. The program will introduce participants to marine life, aquarium operations, water quality management and marine ecosystem education.
The Young Calligrapher Program will run at Al Qasimia School — Museum of Education from Aug. 3 to 6. It will give children a practical introduction to Arabic calligraphy and Kufic script.
Families can also take part in Summer is Better with Family at Sharjah Science Museum, which will feature science and art workshops, demonstrations and interactive games. Another workshop, Mould Story, is set for Aug. 22 at the Resistance Monument, where participants will create decorative Jesmonite plates while learning about the history of plate-making.
Visitors can also explore permanent attractions, including the Little Archaeologist Hall at Sharjah Archaeology Museum, live marine exhibits at Sharjah Aquarium and more than 50 hands-on exhibits at Sharjah Science Museum.
The summer calendar also includes several temporary exhibitions. These include the 41st Annual Exhibition of the Emirates Fine Arts Society, Urban Memory at Sharjah Art Museum through July 16, From Oyster to Crown at Bait Al Naboodah through Dec. 31, 2026, and Native Plants in the UAE: The Roots of the Past to the Shades of the Present at Sharjah Heritage Museum through April 29, 2027.
