Aamir Khan to marry Gauri Spratt as Bollywood star enters new personal chapter

Indian actor Aamir Khan is set to marry his longtime partner Gauri Spratt, marking a new chapter in the personal life of one of Bollywood’s most recognisable stars, according to recent media reports.

The 60-year-old actor, widely known for films including Lagaan, 3 Idiots and Dangal, confirmed his relationship with Spratt earlier this year, saying he had known her for around 18 months before going public. He described their bond as one that had already given him a sense of emotional stability, adding in earlier remarks that he felt “at peace”.

The reported marriage would be Khan’s third.

New relationship with Gauri Spratt

Khan introduced Gauri Spratt publicly on his 60th birthday in March 2025, surprising many in the film industry by revealing that the relationship had already been ongoing for some time.

According to earlier interviews cited in Indian media, Spratt has roots in Bengaluru and comes from a multicultural background. She has worked in fashion and entrepreneurship and is reported to have a young son from a previous relationship.

Khan has described her as someone outside the film industry who brought calm and balance into his life. Reports suggest the couple have largely kept their relationship private.

Two earlier marriages

Khan was first married to Reena Dutta in 1986, before he became a major film star. The couple have two children, Junaid Khan and Ira Khan. They divorced in 2002 after 16 years of marriage.

In 2005, Khan married filmmaker Kiran Rao, whom he met during the production of Lagaan. They have a son, Azad Rao Khan. The couple announced their separation in 2021 after 16 years of marriage, but have continued to maintain a professional relationship.

Despite both separations, Khan has previously said his former partners remain part of an extended family structure.

Children and public life

Khan’s eldest son, Junaid Khan, has recently begun pursuing a career in acting. His daughter, Ira Khan, is known for her work in mental health advocacy and public awareness campaigns.

The youngest, Azad Rao Khan, has largely remained out of the public spotlight.

Members of Khan’s family have in recent interviews spoken positively about his current relationship, with Junaid Khan describing Spratt as “warm” and “friendly” in remarks reported by Indian media.

Career and public image

Khan began his career as a child actor in the 1973 film Yaadon Ki Baaraat and rose to prominence with the 1988 film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.

Over the following decades, he became known for a selective approach to cinema and a reputation for intense preparation, earning him the label “Mr Perfectionist” in Indian media.

His filmography includes several major commercial and critical successes such as Rang De Basanti, Taare Zameen Par, 3 Idiots, PK and Dangal.

Reputation and private life

Khan has long been regarded as one of Indian cinema’s most influential actors, though his career has also been accompanied by public scrutiny and occasional controversy.

He has generally avoided commenting on speculation about his personal life, which has at times included unconfirmed media reports linking him to colleagues in the film industry.

Despite this, he has maintained a reputation for focusing on socially themed films and carefully chosen projects rather than frequent screen appearances.

A new personal phase

If confirmed, the marriage to Spratt would mark a further evolution in Khan’s personal life after two decades of highly public relationships and family transitions.

In earlier comments reported by Indian media, Khan suggested that his current relationship had brought him a sense of completeness and calm, even as he maintained close ties with his former wives and children.

The reported ceremony is expected to be private, in keeping with the actor’s preference for discretion in recent years.
