8th Aljazeera Forum opens in Doha

DOHA– Political and social transformation in the Arab world and the roles of decision-makers, media and youth comes in focus at the Eighth Aljazeera Forum that opened here Monday morning(May 26th). 

Top delegates from Arab countries comprising ministers, members of parliament, national councils, officials from United Nations, and media are attending the three-day Forum titled ‘Change in the Arab world: Where to?’ hosted by Aljazeera Centre for Studies’ at St Regis Hotel here. 

Aljazeera Media Network Acting Director Mostefa Souag and Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Bulent Arinc delivered opening remarks. 
“Change in Arab world should be long-term, not short-term. This transformation is an opportunity for regional countries to be strong,” the Turkish Deputy Premier said in his address to the gathering. 

Senior representatives from Syria, Yemen, Morocco and Iraq will shared their views in the first panel discussion titled ‘Revisiting Processes of Change in the Arab World’. 

The second session afternoon will probe the role of youth during changes in the Arab world. A round table discussion, led by Aljazeera Centre for Studies, on ‘Revisiting Processes of Change’ will follow this session. 

This will lead to two seminars one on ‘The Role of Media Training and Social Change’ led by Aljazeera Media Training and Development Centre. Public Liberties and Human Right Department will lead the second on ‘The Role of Media and Human Rights in Crises’. 
The evening session features a youth platform and a round table on ‘Trends of Youth Movement Three Years after the Arab Spring’ and ‘Syria, The Revolution and Future Scenarios’. 

A session on Media Training and Social Change will follow, and Aljazeera Net will lead a seminar on ‘Arab Media in the Time of Revolutions: Reality and Prospects’. –QNA
