SHARJAH- Sharjah’s collection of desert lodges, coastal retreats and restored heritage homes is set to reach a wider global audience, as the emirate partners with international hospitality group Minor Hotels to manage and expand its unique portfolio of nature-based stays.
The move is expected to enhance visitor experiences across seven distinct locations, from the red dunes of Al Badayer to the mangroves of Kalba, while preserving the cultural identity and environmental focus that define Sharjah’s tourism offering.
Known as the Sharjah Collection, the portfolio brings together a range of immersive stays designed around nature, heritage and slow travel. Visitors can experience desert serenity at Al Faya Retreat, inspired by repurposed 1960s buildings, or explore Al Badayer Retreat, which draws on the traditional caravanserai concept in a modern setting.
Along the east coast, Kingfisher Retreat offers a low-impact escape within protected mangroves, while Moon Retreat in Mleiha combines glamping, stargazing and wellness experiences in open desert landscapes. In Khorfakkan, Najd Al Meqsar and Al Rayaheen Retreat invite guests into restored heritage homes, blending hospitality with local history, while Nomad offers an off-grid mountain experience focused on disconnection and nature.
Together, the seven retreats offer more than 150 accommodation units, each designed to reflect its surroundings and encourage deeper engagement with Sharjah’s landscapes and culture.
By bringing in Minor Hotels, which operates more than 640 properties worldwide, Sharjah aims to elevate service standards, expand international reach and attract a broader mix of travellers, while maintaining the authenticity that sets the collection apart.
Officials said the partnership supports Sharjah’s long-term vision to position itself as a destination for sustainable, experience-led tourism—offering visitors an alternative to traditional luxury through nature, heritage and meaningful cultural connections.
With further growth expected, the Sharjah Collection is emerging as one of the UAE’s most distinctive hospitality offerings, built around place, identity and a slower, more immersive way to travel.
