SHARJAH – HH Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, this evening(May 24th) honoured winners of the 13th Edition of the Gulf Theatre Festival of the Civil Troupes, organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, at the Culture Palace.
In the Festival closing ceremony, six of the veteran theatre personalities in the Gulf Co-operation Council were also honoured.
Present at the award-giving ceremony were H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Ruler of Sharjah’s Office, Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health, Abdullah Al Owais, Chairman of Sharjah Culture and Information Department, and other Sheikhs, senior officials, dignitaries, artists, dramatists and fans.
A documentary showing major participating theatrical works was screened.
During the opening ceremony, Dr Sheikh Sultan was honoured as the Theatre Personality of the Year in the GCC countries.-WAM
