DOHA– Lekhwiya announced that head coach Eric Gerets will longer be with the club. The club and the Belgian came to the agreement mutually after a discussion at club headquarters.
According to Qatar Stars League’s website, the failure of the club to qualify for the next round of the AFC Champions League, as well as their failure in the Qatar Cup which they lost on penalties and their recent exit from the Emir Cup made his position at the club insecure.
Lekhwiya is regarded as the leading team in Qatar and failure to dominate all competitions generally meets with swift change.
