DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has announced the launch of a new edition of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, continuing one of Dubai’s longest-running religious and cultural traditions.
In a message posted on X, the vice president, prime minister and ruler of Dubai said the award will once again recognize distinguished Quran reciters and memorizers from around the world during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
Sheikh Mohammed described the Holy Quran as “light, guidance and mercy” and said Dubai remains committed to honoring those who memorize and recite it. He said the initiative has been part of the emirate’s calendar for 29 years.
The award is among Dubai’s best-known religious programs and has long served as a platform to celebrate Quranic excellence while promoting the teachings and values of Islam.
Winners are typically honored during Ramadan in Dubai, where the award highlights leading voices in Quran recitation and memorization from different countries. The initiative has become a fixture in the emirate’s annual religious observances.
Officials are expected to announce further details about the new edition in the coming months as preparations continue ahead of Ramadan.
