DUBAI, United Arab Emirates: Dubai will host its inaugural Dubai Environment Conference and Exhibition on Sept. 7-8, bringing policymakers, researchers, businesses and environmental specialists together to examine climate risks, biodiversity, food security and emerging environmental technologies.
The two-day event, organised by the Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority (DECCA), will take place at Grand Hyatt Dubai under the patronage of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.
The conference will be held under the theme “Protecting Our Environment, Preserving Our Future” and is intended to create a platform for discussion on environmental policy, scientific research and practical climate solutions.
Six areas on the agenda
Organisers have identified six central areas for the event: biodiversity, natural resources, food security, climate change, the circular economy and environmental artificial intelligence.
Sessions on climate action are expected to examine emissions reduction, climate adaptation and ways to strengthen Dubai’s resilience to environmental risks. Discussions will also address climate finance and how technology can support environmental decision-making.
Artificial intelligence will have a dedicated focus, including potential applications in water-resource management, coastal monitoring and environmental data collection.
Satellite technology is also expected to feature, particularly for tracking vegetation and monitoring environmental changes in near real time.
Food, waste and environmental monitoring
Other discussions will address air, soil and water quality, as well as the sustainability of food supply chains.
Food waste, recycling and electronic-waste management will also be examined as part of the wider focus on resource efficiency and the circular economy.
The event will combine panel discussions and scientific presentations with an exhibition showcasing environmental technologies, initiatives and solutions.
Government, business and academia
DECCA Director General Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani said the conference is intended to bring together specialists from across the environmental and sustainability sectors.
The authority’s broader mandate includes climate action, biodiversity protection, food security, circular-economy development and environmental monitoring in Dubai.
For Dubai, the conference comes as the emirate continues to expand its environmental policy and climate initiatives while integrating data and technology into sustainability planning.
The event also aligns with wider UAE and Dubai policy frameworks, including the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategy, the UAE Green Agenda 2030 and Dubai Urban Plan 2040.
Organisers say the conference will seek to strengthen links between government, the private sector and academia, with the aim of turning research and innovation into practical environmental action.
The first edition is scheduled for Sept. 7-8 at Grand Hyatt Dubai, with climate resilience, environmental technology and sustainable resource management expected to remain key themes throughout the program.
