DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — UAE residents looking to reduce their grocery bills can now compare the prices of more than 8,300 essential products across hundreds of supermarket outlets through the Ministry of Economy and Tourism’s Essential Goods Prices Platform, giving consumers a clearer picture of where they can find the best value before they shop.
The digital platform currently tracks 8,343 essential products sold across 525 outlets operated by 13 major retail chains nationwide. It forms part of the government’s broader efforts to improve price transparency and strengthen consumer protection.
Since its launch in April, the platform has attracted more than 143,700 visitors between mid-April and July 2026, averaging roughly 1,450 visits a day, according to ministry figures.
Residents can use the service to compare the prices of everyday essentials across participating supermarkets before making purchasing decisions. The ministry also uses the same data to monitor retail pricing trends and identify unusual market movements that may require further review.
The ministry said it plans to expand the platform by adding more retailers and a wider range of products, allowing shoppers to compare prices across an even larger section of the UAE’s grocery market.
Beyond helping consumers, the system also supports regulatory oversight by combining digital price monitoring with on-the-ground inspections. Officials analyze pricing data to detect trends, assess market conditions and strengthen consumer protection measures.
According to the ministry, retailers across the UAE continue to maintain sufficient supplies of essential goods, with consumers benefiting from a wide selection of products and alternatives across participating stores.
