Dubai’s retailers set to energise retail sector during summer

IMG_4404DUBAI- Dubai’s retailers are gearing up to further energise the retail sector during the summer season by running exciting promotions in collaboration with Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), that will be  aimed at offering families from around the world a rewarding summer holiday experience in the emirate.

Registration for running retail promotions in the summer commenced on 18 May and will continue until 28 August. The registration centres are located at the Department of Economic Development’s offices at Business Village, Block A,  and its branches at The Dubai Mall and Al Barsha Mall, and will be open from 7.30am to 2.00pm.

DFRE expects thousands of retail outlets to participate in the summer retail promotions which started on 1 June and will end on 5 September.  The variety of promotions will offer Dubai’s retailers the opportunity to boost summer sales during the festivals and celebrations organized by DFRE in the summer including Ramadan in Dubai, Eid in Dubai and Dubai Summer Surprises.

Dubai Summer Surprises  (78)Retailers wishing to register for the summer retail promotion can choose from several promotions such as Sales, Part Sales, Discounts and Offers, and are also allowed to run a raffle promotion or a ‘Scratch and Win’ promotion. Retailers can participate in the following categories – Retail outlets with single brand, Retail outlet with multiple brands, Group of companies, Kiosks and Stands, Advertising by paper/leaflet/flyer, Online advertising per brand, Raffles, Exhibitions, Media House, Gold & Jewellery Shops, and Restaurant/Fast Food.

The numerous special offers, deals and discounts by Dubai’s retailers will not only be an incentive for residents and visitors to shop in Dubai but also help position Dubai as the family holiday destination of choice in the summer. This summer, shoppers can once again look forward to a fabulous shopping experience that will be bolstered by the chance to win prizes worth over AED 5 million when they participate in the citywide promotions.

To ensure that shoppers get their money’s worth and a truly rewarding shopping experience, several measures will be put in place for consumer protection and quality control with exhaustive checks made by inspectors from the Department of Economic Development to ensure that participating retail outlets are actually delivering on their promised offers, and are providing quality merchandise.
