Chelsea Defeats Palmeiras 2-1 to Reach Club World Cup Semifinals

PHILADELPHIA, July 5, 2025 — Chelsea secured a spot in the semifinals of the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States with a 2-1 victory over Brazil’s Palmeiras on Friday at Lincoln Financial Field.

Cole Palmer put Chelsea ahead in the 16th minute before Estêvão Willian equalized for Palmeiras in the 53rd. Weverton scored the winning goal for Chelsea in the 83rd minute.

Chelsea will face Brazil’s Fluminense next, who advanced with a 2-1 win over Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal.
