UAE Parliamentary Division participates in Eurasian Women’s Forum in Saint Petersburg

Abu Dhabi (WAM): The Federal National Council (FNC) Parliamentary Division took part in the 4th Eurasian Women’s Forum in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The two-day event, held under the theme “Women for Strengthening Trust and Global Cooperation,” is the largest international platform for dialogue between women leaders from all continents.

Maryam bin Theneya, Second Deputy Speaker of FNC and head of the UAE delegation, in her speech at the plenary session, “Women for Building Trust and Global Cooperation” highlighted the UAE’s remarkable strides in empowering women, particularly in the diplomatic arena. She said that Emirati women have not only served as ambassadors and diplomats but have also taken on prestigious roles, such as the UAE’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Bin Theneya also took part in the Thematic session “Dialogue of women Russia – Arab world”.

Other members of the Federal National Council Parliamentary Division engaged in thematic sessions titled: Women for a Clean Planet and Food Security; Women’s Influence on Economic Development in the New Realities; and Working Together for a Healthy Society. Collaboration without Borders

Organised by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) from 18th to 20th September 2024, the Eurasian Women’s Forum is an influential international platform that enables women leaders from all continents to engage in a dialogue and adopt joint decisions on key issues concerning international cooperation, sustainable economic development, the assimilation of new technologies, a healthy lifestyle, environmental safety, and the promotion of social charitable projects.
