Qamar Rasheed captures Porsche Ramadan Golf Cup

Porsche Ramadan Golf Cup - Group shotDUBAI-  Qamar Rasheed fought off stiff opposition to capture the new Porsche Ramadan Golf Cup at the Emirates Golf Club.

With a field of 95 assembled for the inaugural tournament, Rasheed produced a 38 points stableford score for a victory which now earns him a chance of lifting the Porsche Champions Trophy at the Majlis Course later this year.

Kevin Roy, who also carded 38 points, was beaten into second place on a countback, with third place going to Paul Donovan on 36 points. Rajinder Razdan, Paul Hanlin and Alok Pant, who each scored 35 points, completed the top six, each of whom automatically qualified for the new annual Porsche Match Play Championship getting under way next month, and the Porsche Champions Trophy taking place in December.

Rasheed was presented with the new Porsche Ramadan Golf Cup during an Iftar dinner and prize giving at the Emirates Golf Club on Saturday night. The top six contenders earned invitations to a Porsche Driving Experience and were rewarded with their trophies and gifts from Porsche as well as other partners.

“We’re delighted with the turnout for this inaugural event, which has been launched as part of our strategic partnership with Dubai’s world famous golf destination,” said Vijay Rao, General Manager of Porsche Centre Dubai, Al Nabooda Automobiles LLC.

“We have a lot of other events and activities planned for Emirates Golf Club members and the wider golfing community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Our customers are passionate about golf and these events provide them with a memorable experience.”

Played on the Faldo course, the first Porsche Ramadan Golf Cup was open to all club members, Porsche owners and non-members. Next up is the inaugural Porsche Match Play Championship, running between 1 August and 30 November, and featuring five categories – men’s and ladies’ singles, men’s and ladies’ doubles, and mixed doubles.

Taking place on the Majlis course in December, the Porsche Champions Trophy is being staged to recognise the top performers in Porsche golf events at the club throughout the year. With men’s and ladies’ singles categories, the 36-hole event will feature the top 24 match play performers, as well as the top six from the Porsche Ramadan Golf Cup. Porsche Centre Dubai’s golf initiatives are supported by RSA and The Rivoli Group.
