Nissan debuts Frontier Pro hybrid pickup, all-electric N7 at Auto Shanghai

SHANGHAI– Nissan unveiled the Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid pickup and the Dongfeng Nissan N7 all-electric sedan at Auto Shanghai 2025, marking a major step in the company’s electrification strategy for China.

The new vehicles are part of Nissan’s plan to launch nine New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China by mid-2027 and are both confirmed for future export.

Frontier Pro: Nissan’s first electrified pickup

The Frontier Pro is Nissan’s first-ever plug-in hybrid pickup and blends rugged design with advanced EV technology. Powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and a high-output electric motor, the hybrid system delivers 800 Nm of torque and up to 135 km of EV-only range.

The five-seat pickup features Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, a rear differential lock, and four drive modes—Hybrid, EV, Performance, and Snow—designed for both city driving and off-road adventures.

Styled under the “Rugged Tech” concept, the Frontier Pro’s design pays tribute to the classic Nissan D21 hardbody pickup with modern LED lighting and bold lines. Inside, it features a panoramic roof, massage-enabled front seats, a 14.6-inch infotainment screen, and V2L charging to power household devices using the vehicle’s battery.

Co-developed with Zhengzhou Nissan, the Frontier Pro will launch in China later this year before being exported to global markets.

Dongfeng Nissan N7: Sleek electric sedan with 635 km range

Also on display, the Dongfeng Nissan N7 is a premium electric sedan featuring a drag coefficient of just 0.208. It offers up to 635 km of range and is equipped with a 400-volt architecture and battery options of 58 kWh and 73 kWh.

The N7 supports fast charging from 10% to 80% in just 19 minutes and includes autonomous driving featuresdeveloped in partnership with Momenta. The ‘Navigate on Autopilot’ system manages highway merges, urban lane changes, and automatic parking.

Interior highlights include AI-powered adaptive seating with massage functions, a 15.6-inch 2.5K infotainment screen, and Snapdragon 8295P-powered connectivity. Luxury touches like ambient lighting, a refrigerated armrest compartment, and up to 14 speakers round out the experience.

The N7 goes on sale in China this month, with pricing to be announced soon.
