Dubai opens 820m cycling bridge linking Al Mamzar and Al Khawaneej

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates: Dubai has expanded its cycling infrastructure with the opening of a new 820-metre bridge connecting Al Mamzar and Al Khawaneej through Al Nahda, creating a safer and more direct route for cyclists and pedestrians.

The project, delivered by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), is designed exclusively for bicycles and pedestrians, helping improve connectivity between established cycling corridors while encouraging active and sustainable travel across the city.

The bridge links directly with the Al Khawaneej and Al Warqa cycling tracks, extending access to the wider network that reaches Saih Al Salam. The new connection allows riders to travel between several residential and recreational areas without relying on vehicle traffic.

According to the RTA, the project forms part of Dubai’s long-term strategy to expand dedicated infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians while making everyday journeys safer and more convenient.

Dubai has steadily invested in cycling facilities over recent years, adding new tracks, dedicated crossings and supporting amenities as demand for active mobility continues to grow. The emirate has positioned cycling as both a recreational activity and an alternative mode of transport for short-distance travel.

The latest bridge is expected to improve accessibility between communities, support healthier lifestyles and contribute to Dubai’s wider sustainability objectives by encouraging more residents to choose low-emission transport options.

Residents can find more information on cycling routes, transport updates and mobility initiatives through the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) website: https://www.rta.ae. Interactive cycling maps and route information are also available through the RTA S’hail app and website: https://www.s’hail.com. As Dubai continues expanding its cycling network, additional infrastructure projects are expected to further strengthen connections between key residential and leisure destinations.
