Michael Kors helps deliver five million meals to hungry children

MK_5_MILLION_MEALSNEW YORK—Michael Kors has announced an important milestone: The brand, together with its customers and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), has helped deliver five million meals to hungry children around the world. The effort is the result of Kors’ philanthropic initiative Watch Hunger Stop, begun last year when the brand entered into a long-term partnership with WFP to help fight global hunger. “I’m grateful and thrilled,” says designer Michael Kors. “We joined with WFP in the belief that our customers would join us in fighting this huge and solvable problem, and they have.”

And the effort continues: This fall the brand will launch a new, limited-edition 100 Series watch, the latest in a series of watches specially designed by Michael Kors to support WFP. For each watch sold, 100 children in hunger-stricken areas receive a nutritious meal.During the month of October, in conjunction with World Food Day on October 16th, customers and visitors to Michael Kors retail stores around the world will be able to make a $5, $10 or $25 donation to WFP at the register.

Information about the campaign can be found on WatchHungerStop.com, a specially designed microsite created to serve as the hub for all of Michael Kors’ hunger-fighting philanthropic efforts. There, visitors can find a wealth of content—much of it shareable—relating to the fight against hunger, WFP and Michael Kors. They can also text to donate directly to WFP.
