UAE leaders send India Independence Day greetings to top officials

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates: UAE leaders have sent Independence Day greetings to India’s President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the close ties between the two countries as India celebrates its national day.

President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan sent a congratulatory message to Droupadi Murmu on Friday, Aug. 15, marking India’s Independence Day.

Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan also sent greetings to India’s president.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and Sheikh Mansour also conveyed Independence Day congratulations to Modi.

The messages come as the UAE and India maintain extensive economic and diplomatic ties spanning trade, investment, energy, tourism and technology.

India is also home to one of the UAE’s largest expatriate communities. Millions of Indians live and work across the Emirates, contributing to sectors ranging from business and finance to health care, construction, technology and hospitality.

The two countries have strengthened their economic relationship in recent years through agreements covering investment, trade and broader strategic cooperation.

For Indian residents in the UAE, Independence Day is marked through flag-hoisting ceremonies, community gatherings and cultural events across the country.

India’s Independence Day is observed annually on Aug. 15, commemorating the country’s independence from British rule in 1947.

The UAE’s latest messages reflect the longstanding relationship between the two nations and the importance of their ties to communities in both countries.
