DUBAI- “Angry Birds Universe”,the first of its kind in the world interactive zone, was officially inaugurated today (6 August) at Modhesh World, the most popular edutainment destination for families across the region.

The unique zone, themed as ‘The Art and Science Behind a Global Phenomenon’, is a main Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) event, and is being organized in collaboration with Rovio and Imagine Exhibitions, and will be open for visitors until 8 September .

Suhaila Gobash said: “We are extremely pleased to offer our Dubai visitors and residents a unique entertainment experience that would take them to a whole new level of interactive fun. Furthermore, to have the world premiere of this global game at Modhesh World for our multicultural audience will surely elevate the popularity of this family destination among families across the region .”

Based on the famous game that took the world by storm, fans of all ages will surely be thrilled to have the chance to ‘be the bird’, safely propelling guests on zip lines that will knock over enormous foam structures, just like the Angry Birds games in a unique, full-body demonstration of Angry Birds physics.

They can also learn about the educational concepts in an energetic and an exciting environment never seen before in the world.

In addition, other full-body attractions include exhilarating games and activities such as Art Studio, Wonderful Wings (The Science of Bird’s Wings), Drop Zone, Rocket Launcher, Earthquake Table, Gear Station, Climbing Wall, Pulley Power, Magnet Mountain, iPad Stations, Sling Shots, Laser Maze, Planetarium, and lots of exclusive merchandise to take home as souvenirs, as well as photo opportunities where you can have your photos, randomly taken inside the play area.

IMG_5673Tom Zaller, President and CEO of Imagine Exhibitions Inc. – one of the leading exhibition companies across the globe, explained how they chose Dubai over many countries and cities that showed interest in hosting the world premiere of Angry Birds Universe: “Dubai, with more than 200 nationalities, is truly a melting pot and an active place for events and festivities and we believe that everyone will enjoy and love the Angry Birds experience.” He also commented that Dubai has world-records of many ‘firsts’: “Dubai is an international hub for trade and great ideas. Dubai is also a pioneer for almost everything such as the tallest building in the world, the first and only 7-Star hotel known to mankind, and has won the right to host World Expo 2020, which is a first in the Middle East and North Africa region. Dubai is always successful in bringing state-of-the-art innovations and groundbreaking technologies.” Tom Zaller added.

Children and families will also be introduced to the beloved Angry Birds characters in an interactive adventure, with approximately 30 hands-on activities, including “bird-launching stations” that teach the principles of the 7 simple machines, full-body experiences, scavenger hunt map-stamping stations, iPad gaming stations, and other opportunities for personal creativity and hands-on creation.

These hands-on activities seamlessly teach STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) concepts and will delight guests of all ages in an immersive and comprehensive experience.

“The Rovio team is very excited to have our Angry Birds Universe exhibition premiere at Modhesh World in the United Arab Emirates,” said Eric Lee, “The Dubai World Trade Centre has an excellent reputation for hosting world-class events, which makes it the perfect venue to bring our games, characters, and STEAM educational elements to life for the very first time in the UAE.”

Angry Birds Universe features numerous opportunities for families to work together, building creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial skills. Parents and children can build and test a variety of structures against the impact of Angry Birds launched by other guests.

These exhibits give young visitors an idea of what it’s like to pursue careers in science and technology.
