Sharjah partners with tech firms on data centers, AI push

SHARJAH, Jan 26, 2026 (GDM) – Sharjah’s Deputy Ruler Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi on Monday witnessed the signing of a tripartite agreement to develop data centers and artificial intelligence infrastructure in the emirate.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by the Sharjah Communications Technology Authority (SCTA), China’s DataCanvas International, and AI Caravan, a statement from the Sharjah Media Office said.

The partnership aims to “advance technological infrastructure projects” and “advance artificial intelligence solutions” in Sharjah, enhancing its position in the data center sector, according to the statement.

The agreement outlines cooperation on feasibility studies, knowledge sharing, and operational support for new projects, with the goal of attracting investment and nurturing local talent.

The move aligns with the United Arab Emirates’ broader strategy to become a regional hub for technology and innovation.
