SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates — Artificial intelligence will play a central role in the 13th edition of the Sharjah Government Communication Award, with organizers emphasizing responsible use of technology in public messaging and audience engagement.
The award, organized by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, is open for submissions across 23 categories until Aug. 31, 2026. Officials say this year’s edition reflects a broader shift in communication, where success is measured not only by speed and scale but also by impact and accountability.
One of the key categories, Best Use of Artificial Intelligence in Government and Institutional Communication, recognizes projects that have used AI in content creation, audience analysis, knowledge management and improving communication outcomes.
The jury has also introduced a new assessment option that allows entries showing effective, innovative and responsible use of AI to receive additional points. Organizers said the move is intended to reward practical results rather than symbolic adoption of new technology.
Mohammed Jalal Al Raisi, head of the jury committee, said the future of communication will depend on how well institutions use technology to serve people and create lasting value. He said AI is already reshaping content development, audience understanding and overall communication performance.
The award also includes an AI Skills Challenge, a competition for students and young people focused on practical AI use in media, communication and content creation. Participants can submit projects in formats such as text, video, images, animation and short films.
Another category, Best AI-Powered Communication for Social Impact, will honor government, private sector and international organizations that have made AI a core part of communication strategies aimed at improving community well-being and quality of life.
Organizers said the award is open to government entities, international organizations, private institutions and individuals who can demonstrate responsible and effective use of artificial intelligence in communication. Further judging and shortlisting are expected after the submission deadline.
