RIYADH, FEB 02 (GMD): Saudi Arabia’s Special Talent Premium Residency continues to draw strong interest from global professionals seeking long-term residence and career stability in the Kingdom, particularly in research, healthcare, science, and executive leadership roles.

Designed for highly qualified individuals who can contribute to knowledge transfer, innovation, and institutional development, the residency option forms part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to strengthen human capital and attract specialised expertise from around the world.

Who can apply

The Special Talent Premium Residency is intended for:

  • Researchers

  • Healthcare and scientific professionals

  • Senior executives

Applicants must hold a valid employment contract with a whitelisted private, government, or semi-government entity in Saudi Arabia and be supported by an official recommendation letter from their employer.

What the premium residency offers

The program provides a range of benefits that go beyond standard work visas, including:

  • Residency in Saudi Arabia with family members, including parents, spouses, and children under 25

  • Freedom to change employers without sponsorship restrictions

  • Exemption from expat levies on the resident and their dependents

  • Visa-free exit and re-entry for the residency holder and family

  • Eligibility to issue visit visas for relatives

  • Access to citizen and GCC fast-track lanes at airports

  • Permission for spouses and dependents to work in the private sector and move between employers

  • The right to conduct business under the Investment Law

  • Eligibility to own or usufruct real estate in the Kingdom

Healthcare and Scientific Professionals
Requirements include:

  • Employment contract with a whitelisted entity in priority sectors

  • Minimum monthly salary of SAR 35,000

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • More than three years of relevant work experience

  • Minimum points system score

  • Employer recommendation letter

Senior Executives
For executive-level applicants:

  • Employment contract at first- or second-level executive positions

  • Minimum total monthly salary of SAR 80,000

  • Employer recommendation letter

Residency duration

The Special Talent Premium Residency is granted as:

  • A five-year fixed-term residency, renewable once upon continued eligibility

  • Permanent residency, available after completing 30 months of residence within five consecutive or non-consecutive years while meeting program requirements

Fees and employment conditions

The program requires a one-time fee of SAR 4,000. Applicants must be employed in the private sector under a recognised labour contract, with premium residency status supported by a recommendation from a whitelisted private, government, or semi-government organisation.
