DUBAI- The Locman Toscano was recently unveiled at Paris Gallery and Watch Gallery. The backless watch has a case that features a unique, cutting-edge design that is rounded, ergonomic and built all of a piece (in a ‘monohull’ construction), unlike the three usual sections.
In other words, it has no back and develops upwards in an eye-catching vase shape, as far as the bezel, where it is attached by four screws embedded in the two lugs, which are also part of the single central block. The large, screw-down crown with its diamond-like faceting ensures the watch is water resistant to 10 atmospheres.
On the back, a special half-moon crystal affords a glimpse of the S.I.O. Calibre 2 mechanical self-winding movement, featuring an oscillating weight in a golden yellow alloy. The generous dial, in natural white mother-of-pearl, black, chocolate brown or sunray pattern blue lacquer versions, is framed by a broad inner bezel ring bearing applied hour markers and over-size Roman numerals.
Toscano’s domed glass is rendered scratchproof by a special sapphire treatment making it much harder than natural sapphire, while significantly enhancing the degree of transparency. The natural leather strap is colour-coordinated with the dial. The lugs are supported by a second bar to improve wearability.
Toscano is also available in a mini version with a 33 mm case diameter and a Swiss-made hi-tech quartz movement.
