DSS enters final week with array of events and experiences
DUBAI- As it enters its final week, the 17th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises will reach its peak with an array of events, experiences and activities, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to make the most of the remaining days of this iconic summer festival.
DSS 2014 has been spreading the festive cheer across Dubai with its exciting line-up of events and promotions since it kicked off on 2 August.
Be it the shoppers thronging the city malls to snap up fantastic DSS deals or children revelling in the celebrations with their favourite cartoon characters coming to life before them in their international debuts – the festivities have been remarkable and will be etched in the memories of all those who wanted to enjoy every bit of the festive ambience.
The final DSS week too is bringing to residents and visitors a fun-filled agenda of family-oriented events, promising action-packed entertainment that is both engaging and exciting.
A long list of fun and leisure hot spots await families and tourists in various parts of the cities, in the malls and in the souqs while the citywide decorations featuring Dubai’s favourite mascot Modhesh flaunting his wide infectious grin, will continue to remind residents and tourists to take home special memories of “The Fun Side of Summer” in Dubai.
And the world-class shopping experience, that Dubai is well known for across the world, is also rewarding, with fantastic promotions that offer shoppers the opportunity to win big. Indeed, the final week of DSS 2014 is the last chance to catch up on the missed-out action and to make the summer months in Dubai your most memorable.
You can enjoy the following DSS events and activities taking place from 31 August until 5 September, the final day of the summer extravaganza.
Adventure Time Live on Stage (until 3 September)
Ibn Battuta Mall, 5pm, 7:30pm, 9:30pm
Adventure Time is a live-action stage show that follows the adventures of two best friends, Finn and Jake, as they travel through the mystical land of Ooo.
Finn, the human boy with an awesome hat, and Jake, the wise dog with magical powers, meet up with fun characters during their adventures, such as rescuing beautiful princesses and tackling evil-doers.
The show’s characters engage the audience with witty dialogue and involve them in the activities on stage, which are full of songs, dancing, story-telling and games. Three shows daily, each of 25 minutes duration.
Disney on Ice Meet the Stars (2 September)
The Dubai Mall, 3-6pm
Disney fans can look forward to meeting the Disney on Ice stars at The Dubai Mall.
Balloon Bending Performers (until 5 September)
Mercato, 5pm, 7:30pm, 9:30pm
Treat your children to delightful balloon creations by talented balloon benders.
One Man Band Roaming Act (31 August)
BurJuman, 5pm, 7:30pm, 9:30pm
Catch the One Man Band playing various instruments by himself at BurJuman to enjoy a refreshing musical break from long shopping sprees.
Musicians Flash Mob (until 5 September)
Mercato
Get surprised by an impromptu musical spectacle as a band of international musicians perform popular soundtracks live at the mall.
Sama Dubai Competition (until 4 September)

Get quizzed on simple questions about DSS and take home instant prizes offered by various outlets within the mall and the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE).
Modhesh World (until 8 September)

Head to Modhesh World, the region’s most popular edutainment destination to enjoy unique attractions such as the Angry Birds Universe Interactive Experience, TRANSFORMERS Interactive Experience, Hello Kitty and Friends Around The World, WWE Interactive Experience in addition to a host of other attractions, activities and fun-filled games.
Modhesh World is celebrating its 15th edition this year by hosting a wide array of events and experiences in Halls 3-8 at Dubai World Trade Centre. The family edutainment destination will be open until 8 September from 10am to 10pm, Saturday to Wednesday; 10am to midnight on Thursday; 3pm to midnight on Friday. Ticket prices are AED 15 for children and AED 10 for adults, while children below the age of 3 go in for free.
Mega DSS promotion (Last draw on 5 September at Wafi)
