NEW DELHI, Jan 19 – United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks on Monday aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation across a range of fields, the UAE state news agency WAM reported.

The discussions, held at the prime minister’s residence in New Delhi during Sheikh Mohamed’s working visit to India, took place within the framework of the two countries’ longstanding ties, reflected in their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Comprehensive Economic Partnership.

At the start of the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed congratulated Modi on India’s Republic Day on Jan. 26 and wished the country and its people continued progress and prosperity, WAM said.

The two sides reviewed the development of UAE-India relations, particularly in areas supporting shared growth ambitions, including the economy, investment, space, technology, artificial intelligence, renewable energy and food security.

Both leaders reaffirmed the importance of continued dialogue and regular exchanges, underscoring the depth of the relationship and their commitment to broadening cooperation at all levels. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual concern.

According to WAM, the leaders emphasised the value of the UAE-India partnership in multilateral cooperation to advance global development, stability and prosperity, reflecting a shared belief in collective international action.

Sheikh Mohamed said the two nations share a common vision to maximise opportunities for cooperation, particularly in technology and artificial intelligence, citing their potential in pursuing a more prosperous future. He also affirmed the UAE’s support for efforts promoting peace in South Asia, in line with its longstanding approach of resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomatic solutions.

The UAE president expressed his best wishes to Modi as India assumes the chairmanship of BRICS in 2026, voicing confidence in India’s leadership in advancing the group’s objectives for global development and prosperity. He also wished success for next month’s India AI Impact Summit 2026, expressing hope that it would reinforce the role of artificial intelligence in advancing global development.

The meeting was attended by members of the UAE president’s delegation, including Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence; Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President; as well as a number of ministers and senior UAE officials.
