Qatar and ILO discuss strengthening of cooperation

GENEVA– HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for International Cooperation met on May 8th with Ms. Sandra Polaski, Deputy Director-General for Policy at International Labour Organization (ILO).

QNA_Mohammad_Bin_Abdulrahman_2381304032014During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen and develop cooperation between Qatar and ILO, especially with regard to support of Qatar’s effort to protect and promote the rights of migrant workers in accordance with international standards and ensuring their rights. 

HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for International Cooperation stressed the protection and promotion of the rights of migrant workers is a strategic choice of the state, confirming the keenness of the State of Qatar to review all laws and procedures related to expatriate workforce. 

For her part, Ms. Sandra Polaski welcomed efforts and procedures made by the State of Qatar to strengthen the rights of migrant workers and to ensure their enjoyment of living conditions and appropriate professional atmosphere. 

The meeting was attended by HE Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Al Henzab, Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva. –QNA
