Swissôtel Opens Red Sea Resort in Egypt’s El Quseir

El Quseir, EGYPTSwissôtel has opened a new 250-room resort on Egypt’s Red Sea coast, marking the Swiss hospitality brand’s latest expansion in a region it sees as a long-term growth market.

The Swissôtel Resort El Quseir sits along a private 520-metre stretch of coastline in one of the Red Sea’s quieter destinations, roughly 140 kilometres south of Hurghada. The property offers five room categories — from solo and couples configurations to family suites — each with private terraces or patios overlooking the sea, a lagoon, or landscaped gardens.

Six dining venues span the culinary range, from Mosaic, which focuses on local and Arab cuisine, to the Mediterranean-leaning Olivos and an all-day dining outlet named Shahrazade. A pool bar and beachfront bar round out the food and beverage offering, alongside Bar Zar, which features live entertainment.

Wellness and water activities are central to the resort’s pitch to travellers. A dedicated diving centre provides guided access to the Red Sea’s coral reefs, while three pools — including a temperature-controlled option and a children’s pool — line the beachfront. The spa offers Ayurvedic therapies and massage treatments. Land-based activities include beach volleyball, horseback riding, snorkelling and cricket.

Raki Phillips, Accor’s Regional President for the Premium, Midscale and Economy division across the Middle East, Africa and Türkiye, described El Quseir as a natural fit for the brand given what he called its “untouched natural beauty and historical depth.” He said the opening reinforced Accor’s broader expansion strategy in Egypt, which the group considers a key growth market.

Alec De Wieuw, Cluster General Manager for both the Swissôtel and the adjacent Mövenpick Resort El Quseir, said a phased renovation programme is planned to upgrade guest rooms, public spaces and family facilities, while the resort remains fully operational.

Swissôtel, which operates more than 40 properties across 20 countries, positions the El Quseir opening under its “Crafting Pure Living” brand philosophy, centred on wellness and what it describes as purposeful travel.
