ABU DHABI, July 5, 2025 — The UAE will mark Emirati Women’s Day 2025 on Aug. 28 under the theme “Hand in Hand, We Celebrate 50 Years,” coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the General Women’s Union (GWU).
The theme, approved under the directives of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the GWU and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, highlights five decades of Emirati women’s achievements and the spirit of community partnership.
The announcement aligns with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s declaration of 2025 as the “Year of Community” with the same “Hand in Hand” theme, emphasizing national cohesion and the vital role of women in the UAE’s progress.
Emirati Women’s Day celebrates the contributions of women across society and reaffirms the country’s commitment to empowering women as key partners in sustainable development and national advancement.
Since its founding in 1975, the GWU has worked under Sheikha Fatima’s leadership to support women’s causes and foster empowerment rooted in identity, solidarity, and community.
