ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — The United Arab Emirates stepped up high-level diplomatic engagement with China and India, as the Abu Dhabi crown prince began an official visit to Beijing and the UAE president held talks with India’s foreign minister in Abu Dhabi.
Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, arrived in Beijing on Sunday for an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across key economic sectors.
The visit reflects the UAE and China’s commitment to deepening their comprehensive strategic partnership, with a focus on increasing investment in high-growth industries and advancing economic cooperation in line with global market trends.
It also underscores the UAE’s role as a global trade hub and investment gateway, while supporting efforts to drive sustainable economic growth through international partnerships.
Sheikh Khaled is accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority and special envoy to China; Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, minister of industry and advanced technology and ADNOC managing director and CEO; Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, minister of investment; and Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, minister of foreign trade, among other senior officials.
UAE president meets India’s foreign minister
In Abu Dhabi, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.
Jaishankar conveyed greetings from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed wishes for the UAE’s continued security and prosperity. Sheikh Mohamed asked him to convey his greetings to Modi and extended his wishes for India’s continued progress.
The two sides reviewed cooperation under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, focusing on advancing ties in line with shared development priorities.
They also discussed developments in the Middle East and their implications for regional and global security, including maritime security, energy supplies and the broader global economy.
The meeting addressed recent attacks targeting civilians and infrastructure in the UAE and the region, which officials described as violations of sovereignty and international law.
Jaishankar reiterated India’s solidarity with the UAE and its support for measures aimed at safeguarding the country’s security and stability.
The meeting was attended by senior UAE officials, including Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, crown prince of Dubai and minister of defense, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, minister of foreign affairs.
