Key UAE visa rule changes introduced in 2025

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Jan. 24, 2026 (GMD) – The UAE introduced several significant visa rule changes in 2025, reshaping entry and residency pathways for tourists, professionals, and investors, authorities announced.

Key updates include the expansion of the Golden Visa programme to new categories, including nurses, content creators, and Waqf donors. New visit visa categories were also introduced for specialists in artificial intelligence, entertainment, and events, as well as for tourism via cruise ships and yachts.

Rules for residents sponsoring visitors were formalized, linking eligibility to minimum monthly salary requirements of 4,000 to 15,000 dirhams depending on the relationship.

Visa-on-arrival access for Indian nationals was expanded to include those holding valid residence permits from six additional countries, including Australia and Canada. Pakistani nationals can now avail a five-year multiple-entry tourist visa.

A pilot system in Dubai now links the settlement of outstanding traffic fines to residency visa renewal processes. Additionally, the UAE launched a 10-year “Blue Residency” for individuals making exceptional contributions to environmental protection, with a new 180-day permit to facilitate applications.

Consular services abroad, including emergency support and repatriation assistance, were also established specifically for Golden Visa holders.
