DEWA Champions Inclusion of People of Determination with Smart Innovations

Dubai, UAE – Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) reaffirmed its commitment to an inclusive society in 2024, launching cutting-edge initiatives to empower People of Determination. Through smart technologies, accessibility upgrades, and inclusive policies, DEWA continues to enhance opportunities for People of Determination, aligning with Dubai’s vision for an equitable future.

Achievements & Recognition
In 2024, DEWA achieved 100% happiness among Employees of Determination (EOD) for the third consecutive year, with family satisfaction at 98.07%. Customer satisfaction reached 97.64%, while community satisfaction with DEWA’s support stood at 94.68%. DEWA also won the Best People-of-Determination-Friendly Government Entity award at the Dubai Government Excellence Programme (DGEP) 2024 and received the ‘Accessible UNI’ Golden Certificate from Dubai Municipality for 10 buildings.
Enhanced Accessibility & Training
DEWA ensures seamless access to services, scoring 100% for website accessibility and 10/10 for smart app accessibility in the 2024 POD Accessibility Evaluation Report by the Digital Dubai Authority. It has trained over 11,358 employees on inclusive practices, 418 employees on evacuation chair usage, and 762 employees on emergency evacuation procedures.
Smart Innovations for Inclusion
DEWA introduced AI-powered digital sign language interpreters on its website and smart eyeglasses developed by DEWA Academy students to assist individuals with visual impairments. These initiatives enhance independence and quality of life for People of Determination.
Social Initiatives & Partnerships
Between 2015 and 2024, DEWA launched 107 initiatives, including 12 in 2024, supporting community awareness, rehabilitation services, and sports activities. DEWA also engaged suppliers and subsidiaries in training programmes on inclusion best practices.
Showcasing Inclusion at Key Events
A strategic partner of the AccessAbilities Expo, DEWA highlighted its pioneering approach to inclusion at the 2024 event, inspiring other entities. It also participated in the 23rd Ru’ya Careers UAE fair, showcasing inclusive recruitment efforts for young Emiratis.
